Looking at the topics posted over a period of time related to P38 system problems, these seem to fall into only a few categories.Loss of synch., EAS, HEVAC and SRS. to access the coding data within the Becm if it is locked and my advice ,if you are concerned, is to get the Becm unlocked (Cheaper than the unlock module) which will allow other kit to read the coding data and initiate a resynch & disarm.įaults can be read with some of the stuff out there but can only be cleared if the relevant ECU is FULLY accessible.as per the Becm. It is not possible with any of the kits out there, including BBS, Test Book etc. I feel the best option is, if you wish to cover all possibilities, get a single vehicle Faultmate or Faultmate with Becm module SM022 and purchase individual applcations as needed with the exception of the EAS which is free. Over the years, the main problem with SRS warnings was down to the car being stood for a good length of time with a flat or missing battery and easily cleared.

HEVAC faults generally are Blend motor related and apart from recalibrating the blend flap motors after replacement, software is rarely used. which can be sorted in the main with the Synchmate.

The EAS free software is a capable piece of kit which sorts that area out.Next comes the loss of synch.

I have found the EDC/Motronic code of 0768Īnd in the Hawkeye it says (under body electrics under security code,) I have found 0940 although I don't know why this is here, sometimes it is 0000 – depends on the time of dayįuel pump on ignition on and solenoid are now live ( 5 seconds then off and on respectively )

I bought a Hawkeye instead of a Blackbox syncmate as I wanted to have more diagnostic functions -Īs it was nice, I decided to have another go at the Hawkeye and have now found all menus and features and done them all, everything works apart from a few door outstations which I know aboutĪll serial comms are fine and Hawkeye still saying "lost comms with the EDC FIP" which is logical due to the false alarm stop solenoid operating, lift pump operating. Due to a false alarm when I unlocked the key the P38 would not start, just cranks over, no spray from the injector pipes.
